Postnatal Care is the care/services provided to individuals in the postpartum period, to help with postpartum recuperation and restoration. The care includes the prevention, early detection, and treatment of complications. It also includes the provision of counseling on breastfeeding, birth spacing, immunization, and maternal nutrition. Women and newborns require support and careful monitoring after birth because most maternal and infant deaths occur in the first six weeks after delivery.
